K-1 Resource Room - Ms. Umbarger
Meet Ms. Umbarger!
I am Ms. Umbarger! This is my 4th year teaching in Sault Area Schools, and 2nd year here at Washington Elementary. I absolutely love the building, teachers, and students I work with each and every day. Students will be learning in their general education classrooms, and periodically throughout the day, I will pull them for intervention services. We will work on specific goals that have been determined within their IEP, as well as any other areas of difficulty. My goal for each of my students is that they leave learning something new, and are proud of themselves and their work. We will use a variety of tools and hands on learning techniques to practice academic and coping skills. I am so lucky that everyday I get to work with students who teach me the most (truly). I cannot wait to start this school year!
I graduated from Lake Superior State University in 2020 with my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education with a Concentration in Learning Disabilities. I have a passion and love for teaching Special Education, and have never taught anything else. I am currently working on completing my Master’s as a reading Specialist from Northern Michigan University. I recently welcomed my first baby last fall, and love spending time with my family, animals, exercising, hunting, and anything outdoors.
